Biography

Linda Fugate began her career with Levy County in 1984 when she was hired as a part-time employee by the previous Tax Collector. In 1986 she was promoted to a full-time deputy clerk. She became the supervisor of the Department of Motor Vehicles Section and the Hunting and Fishing License Department and remained in that position seven years prior to running for Levy County Tax Collector. Linda was elected as the new Levy County Tax Collector on November 7, 2000.

Since taking office, Linda has been very instrumental in providing more and better services to the citizens of Levy County. Under her leadership, many improvements have been accomplished such as: providing the people with the capability of paying their taxes over the internet with a credit card, providing Driver License Services everyday of the week, maintaining all bookkeeping by computer, and for out lying towns an office representative is provided for Motor Vehicle and Property Tax services.

Mrs. Fugate is a 1983 graduate of Bronson High School. After employment in the Tax Collector's Office, Linda attended and completed all the required courses to become a Certified Florida Collector's Assistant. Since becoming Tax Collector, this Certification has been upgraded to Certified Florida Collector.

Linda is married to Duane Fugate Jr. of Williston. They have just celebrated their 16th anniversary. They have two children, Pricilla and Trip.
